The Quality Housing and Work Responsibility Act of 1998 requires the Village of Chama Housing Authority to prepare an Annual Plan covering operations of public housing. The Board of Commissioners for the Village of Chama Housing Authority will hold a public meeting and RAB at 12:00 p.m., March 29, 2021, at 851 Mundy Dr, Chama, New Mexico to receive comments on the Housing Authority’s 2021 Annual Plan.

This notice is also to advise you that there is an opportunity for an assisted resident to serve on the Village of Chama Housing Authority Resident Advisory Board (RAB). The rule issued by HUD, states that a resident directly assisted by a Public Housing Agency may express an interest to serve on the Board. The Minimum Qualifications for a Board Member are as follows: The resident’s name must appear on a lease and the resident must be at least 18 years of age.” (No. 10 in Federal Register, Vol. 64, Page 56871). Resident Advisory Board Members serve their community voluntarily, and are not paid to serve on the Board. Board Members have the responsibility to abide by the Code of Federal Regulations, and to ensure that the Public Housing Agency is providing decent, safe and sanitary housing.

If you have an interest to serve on the Resident Advisory Board (RAB) of the Housing Authority, you must enter your name on a list at the Housing Authority Office. The Housing Director will make the final decision to appoint a resident to the Board. In accordance with the Federal Register Guidelines, we must give you a thirty (30) day notice to express interest in serving on the Housing Authority Resident Advisory Board. All interested residents must submit their name no later than March 12, 2021.

The public can view draft plans and all supporting documentation at the Office of the Chama Housing Authority.
