Back to work. . .

Cockerham said Trujillo returned to work Monday and will retain his title and $53,000 a year salary. However, Cockerham did away with Trujillo's position for next fiscal year while he was away and split maintenance responsibilities among three newly-created positions. Cockerham said Trujillo can take any of those positions.
Trujillo, a former Rio Arriba County Commission candidate from Chimayó, supported School Board Secretary Joann Salazar's successful election bid in 2007. Salazar said she had no comment on the issue except to say that it is a personnel matter and that evidence was insufficient to warrant Trujillo's termination.
In the weeks before the two employees were placed on leave, a security guard had been stationed two days at the District's central offices, just a day after a Feb. 21 letter from District Safety Officer Paul Salas stated, "ongoing issues and incidents between Ms. Paula Johnson, Mr. Charlie Trujillo, and (District bus driver and Trujillo's wife) Mrs. Angie Trujillo for the past several months have been increasingly disruptive and create an uneasy and potentially unsafe work environment for all staff members."
Salas' letter also mentioned an "incident" that resulted in a directive from Cockerham that the three individuals should stay away from each other in the work place. The letter also said that they ignored that directive.
Johnson has been reassigned to Española Valley High School, where she replaced office manager Joann Trujillo after she resigned in mid-April, according to District documents.
