Broken down trucks

Rio Arriba County's maintenance yard in Alcalde has many North Central Solid Waste Authority trucks in varying degrees of condition. Some are repairable, if the Authority could buy parts, others are not repairable and used as sources for parts.

All four polycart trucks at North Central Solid Waste Authority are currently out of order and six of their employees are out waiting for negative test results for COVID-19 causing delays in pickup, according to General Manager Peter Fuller.

The Authority has three hand toss trucks they are running on their larger trucks routes.

Fuller said some of the inoperative polycart trucks are out at repair centers in Santa Fe County. One of the trucks was expected to be back Wednesday (11/19) but due to a parts delays won’t be returned to service until Nov. 23.

Fuller has authorized the emergency purchase of an additional truck that must be picked up and they might be able to borrow the truck from Tierra Amarilla.

The transfer station in Alcalde is open for extra hours and no service charge through Nov. 30.
