New Mexico State Police are investigating the deaths of three people in the village of Cañoncito, east of Dixon, believed to be homicides.

State Police Lt. Elizabeth Armijo wrote, in a Thursday (5/31) press release, that officers found the three bodies in the house when they responded Wednesday (5/30) night.

“Currently, the New Mexico State Police Crime Scene Team is processing the residence for evidence,” she wrote. “State Police agents are conducting additional investigation.”

The names of the victims have not been released.

“Because this investigation is very preliminary and in order not to compromise this police investigation, no further details, including the identity of the deceased and cause of death, will be released at this time,” she wrote.
