The Rio Arriba County Fair Association will hold a public forum at Dec. 19 at 6 p.m. at the County Commission Chambers in Española to discuss the financial status of the Association.

Members of the Fair Association noticed issues with the organization’s finances in October.

An accountant conducted an independent audit of the Association’s finances and the results of the audit will be discussed at this meeting.

“Keeping with our reputation of transparency, we the Fair Association agreed to hold a forum for the public, business community (and) exhibitors to have the opportunity to ask questions concerning our current situation,” Fair Association President Nick Lovato said.

During the forum, he will share what was discovered during the audit, how it was found and what the Fair Association did in response, Lovato said.

Association financial information has been given to the New Mexico State Police, no one has been charged and everyone is innocent until proven guilty, he said.

The County offices in Española are located at 1122 Industrial Park Road.

For more information, call Fair Association President Nick Lovato at 505-927-8747.
