A Petaca man was arrested nearly a month after he was accused of slapping, shoving and pointing a gun at his ex-girlfriend.
Rio Arriba County Deputy Andres Sanchez responded to a call on Nov. 14, in Ojo Caliente, of battery against a household member after the fact.
He spoke with Michelle Sisneros, who appeared to be drunk. According to his incident report, the woman admitted to drinking throughout the day.
Sisneros said she was visiting with her daughter, when Morris Lovato, 51, called her and asked her for a ride. She said her daughter took her to pick up Lovato, who’d been walking on US Highway285 near the “blue buildings.”
“Michelle told me that as they were driving north on US Highway 285, she and Morris began arguing,” Sanchez wrote. “Michelle stated that her daughter was aggravated she and Morris were arguing in her vehicle and Michelle’s daughter stopped at an old gas station that Michelle identified as the ‘OC gas station.’”
Sisneros and Lovato got out of the car and continued arguing outside of it. Lovato then allegedly shoved and slapped Sisneros on the left side of her face.
“Michelle told me after Morris slapped her, Morris brandished a small black revolver at her and stated ‘I should kill you bitch,’” Sanchez wrote. “Michelle stated Morris slapped her once more on the left side of her face and at that time Michelle and her daughter left. Michelle stated prior to her leaving the gas station, Morris walked off into the hills.”
Her daughter then took Sisneros to a family friend’s house and that’s when she called deputies. She said she had bruises and scratches on her left arm and face, where Lovato slapped and shoved her, however, she refused medical attention.
Sisneros told Sanchez that she and Lovato had been in an on-again, off-again relationship for about 12 years.
“Michelle told me that Morris batters her frequently and has a long history of domestic violence with her,” Sanchez wrote.
She said, several times, during her conversation with the deputy, that she was afraid of Lovato and thought that he eventually, would kill her one day.
An arrest warrant charging Lovato with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a household member and battery, was drafted. He was arrested on Dec. 7. According to an online court records search, he has a status hearing in Española Magistrate Court before Judge Joseph Madrid, on Jan. 5.
