Donna Sanchez Shadoan, 87, Alcalde, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2020.

    Mrs. Shadoan was born in Alcalde on Dec. 18, 1932 to Louisa Vialpando Sanchez and Antonio Sanchez.

    She was an educator for 33 years, who retired as a bilingual teacher. She graduated from Highlands University with a master’s degree.

    Mrs. Shadoan enjoyed cooking and published a cook book. She enjoyed puzzles and singing in the car to Spanish music. Mrs. Shadoan was a member of the Morada de Alcalde.

    She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years Robert D. Shadoan, parents, brothers Paul Sanchez and Eddie Sanchez and sisters Ida Sanchez Carrillo and Barbara Sanchez.

    She is survived by sisters Dora Medina, Mabel Marquez, Rita Sanchez, and Susan Beaman, sons Rodney D. Shadoan and Robert A. Shadoan, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many other relatives ad friends.

    A devotional service was held Tuesday in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Memorial mass was celebrated Wednesday (10/14) at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Alcalde. Burial followed at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
