Ida Sanchez Carrillo, 83, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019.

    Mrs. Carrillo was born to Antonio and Louisa Sanchez on January 30, 1936 in Alcalde.

    She was an educator who began her career at the Santo Domingo Public Schools and continued as a professor at the University of New Mexico and New Mexico Highlands University.

    Mrs. Carrillo was a restaurant connoisseur, movie buff and world traveler.

    She was a dedicated member of Queen of Heaven Parish, including being a part of the Spanish choir, member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Society. She was also a member of the Morada de Alcalde.

    Mrs. Carrillo was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years Federico Martinez Carrillo, her parents, brothers Paul Sanchez, Eddie Sanchez and sister Barbara Sanchez.

    She is survived by sisters Dora Medina, Donna Shadoan, Mabel Marquez, Rita Sanchez, and Susan Beaman; daughters Paula Carrillo Gonzales and Ana Carrillo Seligman; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

    A rosary was recited Monday at the Queen of Heaven Parish. A mass was celebrated Tuesday at the same location. Another rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Saturday, followed by an other mass in St. Anne’s Catholic Church. She will then be buried at La Morada de Alcalde with a reception to follow.
