June Paule, 88, Santa Fe died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019.
Mrs. Paule was born June 24, 1931 in Troy, N.Y.
She became registered nurse and joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed at the Naval Base San Diego, Calif. There she met and married her husband Lieutenant Jack R Paule. Both were relocated to New London shortly after marrying.
She served as a Lieutenant Junior Grade – second commissioned office rank in the United States Navy at Station Hospital, USN Submarine Base New London, Connecticut as a registered nurse.
In 1964 the family moved to New Mexico after her husband received is doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. She raised three children, helped her husband’s veterinary practice and continued her love of art painting.
Some of her work involved painting landscapes, her Native American heritage and her love of the ocean – lighthouses. She painted on various forms of medium – light bulbs, rocks, shopping bags, saw blades and other discarded items, with commission artwork. She started with oils, then watercolors to acrylics.
Mrs. Paule is preceded in death by her son Jack R. Paule Jr. and her husband.
She is survived by her sister Georgette Martin, brothers Bart and Leonard Tracy, daughters Jeanne Paule Whitworth and Julie Paule Lee, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
She was buried Sept. 27 in the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
