Lorenzo Herrera

Lorenzo Herrera of Hernandez, New Mexico passed away peacefully on November 9, 2021 with his son Mario and Bernadette by his side. He went to be with our Lord and his daughter Lorie Herrera at the age of 88. 

Lorenzo was proceeded in death by his parents, Avelino and Vivinita Herrera from Chili; Mother and father-in-law, Efren and Matilde Garcia; brothers, Jr. Herrera from Chili and Gilbert Herrera from Albuquerque; sisters, Susie Borrego from Santa Cruz and Amada Baros from Albuquerque; In-laws, Vivian Herrera, Pat Herrera and Katie Herrera all from Albuquerque, Joe and Tere Rodriquez of Espanola, Manuel D. Garcia of Espanola, Don and Lila Valdez from Ojo Caliente, Sammy Herrera from Nambe and Eledo Garcia of Hernandez.

Lorenzo worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory for over 34 years. He then retired to help his wife Socorro with her Janitorial business and continued with his band ‘Socorro y Los Suenos’ for 42 years. He was also the owner of Socorro’s Restaurant for 26 years.

Lorenzo is survived by his wife, Socorro G. Herrera of 67 years. Sons; Michael (Eva) Herrera, Ivan Herrera and Mario (Bernadette) Herrera; grandkids, Jeremy (Stephanie) Herrera, Amy Herrera, Walter Martinez, Samuel Herrera, Mario Herrera Jr. (Kayla), Angel Herrera (David) of Albuquerque and Julie Herrera (Eliza) from San Diego; great-grandkids that loved him dearly, Haley Martinez, Hannah Martinez, Alyssa, Leah, Bella Herrera, Ava and Eli Mateo Herrera and Arabella Roybal.

He is also survived by two brothers, Johnny Herrera and Joseph Herrera of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Angie Herrera of Chili; special relatives, Mela Garcia, Pauline Garcia, Arturo Herrera and Cornelio Sanchez.
