Wilfred Sandoval, 86, a resident of Canjilon, NM passed away on November 3, 2020.  He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Crestina; daughter, Dora Baker. Wilfred was a man of integrity, loyalty, full of wisdom, love and respect.  He exemplified the qualities of a leader and hero.  He was a kind and gentle soul, the husband, father and grandfather to aspire to be like.  A true man of virtue.  He enjoyed sharing his life experiences with others.He and his wife were deeply in love and he missed her dearly. He bestowed profound love for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was loved and admired by all who knew him.He was a hard-working individual, that worked in many trades including logging, mining and sheep herding; ultimately retiring from the US Forest Service after 25 years of dedicated service as an Animal Caretaker.Wilfred is survived by his son, Richard Sandoval (Theresa) Christine Sandoval, Jesusita Brock (Ed), Sandra Antillon (Julio), Belinda Leyba (Toby), Rosemary Marquez (Anthony), Geraldine Trujillo (Pat); numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Ismael Sandoval, Dolores Baca and Adelia Tafoya. A rosary was recited on Monday, November 16, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. A gravesite service and burial followed after the rosary at the Canjilon Cemetery.
