Yolanda Monica Lovato

Yolanda Monica Lovato, 57, was called home to the  Lord on May 9, 2018. Yolanda was born to Pete and Eleanor Lovato on April 29, 1961. She grew up with two sisters, Amanda and Gina; two brothers, Jimmy and Nick; and honorary brother Paul Rivera Jr.

In her early 20s she was married to Paul Sanchez for 14 years. They had a beautiful daughter together, Leticia.

Yolanda graduated from Mesa Vista High School in Ojo Caliente. She graduated from New Mexico Highlands University where she obtained her BA in social work. She went on to receive her master’s in Human Ecology with focus on aging and the her PhD from Michigan State University.

In her late 30s Yolanda met the love of her life, Karyn LaBonte and were married for 17 years. They adopted three beautiful children, Graci, Fausto and Rubi.

Yolanda was preceded in death by her father Pete Lovato, brother Jimmy Lovato, brother-in-law John Maestas, sister-in-law Anna Griego Lovato and Patsy Sanchez. She is survived by her loving mother, Eleanor Lovato of Chile; daughter Leticia Roybal and son-in-law William of El Rancho; daughters Graci and Rubi and son Fausto LaBonte Lovato of Spokane, WA; grandchildren Anna Lea, Salomon and Tia Roybal of El Rancho; sisters Amanda Maestas of Chile, Gina Vasquez and brother-in-law Charles of El Rito, brother Nick Lovato and sister-in-law Rebecca of Ojo Caliente; honorary brother Paul Rivera Jr., and wife Judy of Ojo Caliente; sister-in-law Sherry LaBonte Orndoff and brother-in-law Rik Orndoff of Spokane, WA; and many nieces and nephews.

Rather than mourn her death at a funeral Yolanda wanted her family and friends to celebrate her life. A rosary in celebration of her life will be held Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 3 p.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Ojo Caliente, NM.
