5:44 a.m. A man’s death was reported on Po Pay Avenue.

8:17 a.m. A vehicle fled a traffic stop near AutoZone.

10:01 a.m. A Habitat for Humanity caller reported someone started a fire on the porch last night.

2:06 p.m. A woman went to the Española Police Department to file a report because her daughter stole her credit card.

2:28 p.m. An Arbolera Community Center caller requested a welfare check on a man in a truck who was slumped over the wheel.

2:31 p.m. A Velarde caller said someone in a truck took a photo of her and wasn’t allowing her to pass by, then threw things at her vehicle.

2:34 p.m. A West Shadowood Lane caller reported a wall was vandalized with graffiti.

3:21 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man and woman slumped over in a vehicle at Pizza Hut.

6:27 p.m. A Medanales caller said someone is burning weeds in the arroyo and is watching it.

7:16 p.m. An Alcalde caller reported the neighbor is burning something outside and setting off her fire alarm.

11:08 p.m. An assault was reported at the Rio Arriba County Detention Center.

2:35 a.m. An overdose was reported on Santo Niño Lane.

6:49 a.m. An overdose was reported in alcalde.

7:33 a.m. A man’s death was reported in Medanales.

9:09 a.m. An officer was out with a jaywalker near McDonald’s.

9:28 a.m. A Jemez Mountains Electric Cooperative caller reported someone impersonated a vendor and received a $47,000 payment.

10:01 a.m. A La Mesilla caller said the neighbors are possibly doing drug transactions.

10:25 a.m. A man who was jaywalking near Taco Bell was detained because he was refusing to stop and was resisting.

12:59 p.m. A person with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head was being transported from Peñasco.

1:09 p.m. A death was reported on County Road G.

2:07 p.m. An Española Pathways caller said homeless people were outside, yelling at each other and punching the wall.

2:13 p.m. A woman went to EPD to report a girl stole her purse and wallet.

2:57 p.m. A Velarde caller said the neighbor is arguing with her husband and accusing him of hiding something on the property.

5:01 p.m. A Chimayó caller reported a man stole a paint sprayer from them.

7:07 p.m. A Hernandez caller said a man against whom she has a restraining order showed up at her house and is arguing with her daughter and grandson.

11:53 p.m. A caller reported a car was swerving in and out of traffic on U.S. Highway 84, hard braking and driving on the median.

Hit and Run

Jan. 24

7:02 a.m. An El Rito caller said her brother was in her house, harassing her and breaking things. She wanted him removed.

8:47 a.m. An Ohkay Eagle Mart caller reported a vehicle crashed into the garage where they do oil changes.

11:26 a.m. A caller said her ex-boyfriend threatened to kill her.

1:54 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a woman by the Black Mesa Golf Course who was walking in front of passing vehicles.

2:32 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on her four sons who have been missing for 10 years. She said one was taken to California by the Sureños. She also said she’s been battered, raped, trafficked and sexually abused in the county jail for two weeks.

3:07 p.m. A Hernandez caller reported his house was broken into while he was out of town.

4:15 p.m. A Calle Sin Nombre caller said the neighbor’s son hit her fence and fled.

5:29 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man lying face-down on the road in Abiquiú.

7:13 p.m. A Calle Tecolote caller said a man wrecked a vehicle and took off running.

7:48 p.m. A passerby reported a car hit a guardrail near Black Mesa Winery.

11:05 p.m. A caller said her wife got violent and started hitting things after the caller told her she wanted a divorce.

Making a Scene at Pizza Hut
Jan. 25

12:44 a.m. An officer removed a bull from the road near Northern New Mexico College.

6:09 a.m. A North Calle Senaida caller said her father choked and pushed her over the furniture, so she used a knife against him. The responding officer said the woman was checked by medics and there was no domestic violence incident.

9:03 a.m. A Paseo de Paulina caller reported her childrens’ bikes were stolen.

10:32 a.m. An overdose was reported at Goodwill.

11:15 a.m. An Alcalde caller said a car went off the bridge and is in the ditch. There’s no water in the ditch and there’s no one in the car.

12:37 p.m. A Hernandez caller reported his house was broken into. Money and everything for his landscaping business was taken.

1:59 p.m. A man started to make a scene at Pizza Hut after employees were trying to resolve an issue.

4:18 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man lying in the Lowe’s Home Improvement parking lot.

5:56 p.m. A caller said a man was near the drive-thru of Wells Fargo Bank and asked her for a blanket because he’s sleeping outside tonight.

6:55 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man standing in the road at North Orchard Lane and South McCurdy Road. When she stopped her vehicle, the man said he wanted her to hit him.

10:31 p.m. An overdose was reported in La Mesilla. The Office of the Medical Investigator was called.

Lying in the Road
Jan. 26

12:41 a.m. An Odelia Lane caller said the father of her grandchildren is drunk and threatening her.

7:19 a.m. A woman wanted to speak with an officer about a man who’s been stalking and harassing her.

12:02 p.m. A man on Hindi Lane was found unconscious. The Office of the Medical Investigator was called.

12:12 p.m. A man was found dead on East Solano Drive.

1:24 p.m. A man went to EPD to file a report for a lost ID.

5:50 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man lying on the side of the road at the south entrance of the Avanyu Travel Center.

6:06 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man wearing a reflector vest, lying in the middle of the road at Community School road and Po Pay Avenue.

6:52 p.m. A Camino de las Animas caller said his girlfriend hit him in the head with something.

7:40 p.m. A woman at the Santa Claran Casino Hotel was suspected of having meth.

8:19 p.m. A San Pedro Shell caller said a woman there doesn’t know where she’s at. She was given a ride to Motel 6.

9:44 p.m. A Motel 6 caller reported a woman was in the lobby and yelling. The woman was given a courtesy ride to the Days Inn and told that if she acts up again, she’ll face consequences.

10:14 p.m. A Calle Romero caller heard gunshots and yelling near the La Joya car wash. The responding officer found people at the Bubble Zone who were yelling at each other and fighting over a blanket.

11:07 p.m. A Days Inn caller said there was a drunk woman in the parking lot and they wanted her removed.

4:31 a.m. A patient at the Española Hospital said he was possibly drugged and someone took his cards and vehicle on Friday.

7:31 a.m. A bull was in the roadway near the old Henry Valencia car lot.

7:33 a.m. A caller reported a loose cow by Speedway on North Paseo de Oñate and North Coronado Avenue.

7:57 a.m. An Ohkay Casino caller said a cat was stuck in a person’s tire.

9:45 a.m. A North Paseo de Oñate caller reported her ex-brother-in-law threw a cup of coffee at her and hit her in the face.

9:55 a.m. A Tsigo Bugeh Road caller said a man was knocking on her windows and asking for a ride.

10:59 a.m. A North Calle Senaida caller reported a man is in her house and he won’t let her in.

11:30 a.m. A caller said a man was refusing to get off the bus at the stop near Point S.

11:54 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on two children living in Chimayó because they don’t go to school and the house is a mess.

12:43 p.m. A woman went to EPD and said she feels like her life is in danger because she heard her neighbors saying something about killing her.

12:50 p.m. A McDonald’s caller said there’s a guy outside causing trouble and yelling at customers.

2:32 p.m. A report for contraband in the jail was taken at the Rio Arriba County Detention Center.

2:36 p.m. A Center Market caller said a man who’s been trespassed is bothering customers and scaring them.

3:23 p.m. A caller reported her grandchild is being bullied and assaulted at the Española Middle School.

4:23 p.m. An El Rey Liquors caller said a drunk man was asked to leave an hour ago and he’s still there.

5:27 p.m. A McDonald’s caller reported a man was drinking Four Loko and standing in front of her vehicle, being weird.

6:49 p.m. A Bubble Zone caller said someone is lying by the trash cans and they haven’t moved in a while.

6:58 p.m. A Santa Claran Casino Hotel caller reported someone in the parking lot has a scale and bags of weed the caller thinks they’re trying to sell.

7:12 p.m. A caller said there’s a brown cow at Northern New Mexico College.

Eye in the Sky

Jan. 28

12:57 a.m. A woman reported seeing her missing vehicle at a house. The vehicle was recovered.

7:23 a.m. A caller said a man left his house and is on his way to the casino. The caller wanted officers to help take the man back home because he’s been having interactions with law enforcement and was told to stay home or he’d be arrested.

11:48 a.m. One man was arrested on a warrant after officers went to Cook’s Mobile Home Park because two men were possibly scoping out the area.

2:02 p.m. A Children, Youth and Families employee reported a possible case of child abuse at Española Elementary.

3:15 p.m. A Rio Chama Chevron caller said a man in a truck that was pulling a horse trailer smelled like marijuana and was looking all over and seemed paranoid.

3:36 p.m. A Santo Niño Lane caller reported her house has been getting broken into and the person who did it set up extension cords that lead to their property.

4 p.m. A Chama caller said there’s a drone watching her house.

4:04 p.m. An Aspen Urgent Care caller reported a woman went into the business and yelled at and threatened staff. They’re worried she’ll go back.

4:13 p.m. A Santa Claran Casino Hotel caller said a man is unconscious and they’re not sure if he overdosed.

4:54 p.m. An overdose was reported behind Goodwill. Narcan was administered.

6:52 p.m. A Kennedy Loop and Po Pay Avenue caller said a man using a backhoe stopped moving. CPR was started but the man died.

10:19 p.m. A Chamita caller reported her vehicle was stolen. When the dispatcher told her she needed paperwork for them to know her car was stolen, she hung up. She called back and started swearing at the dispatcher.
