Man Slaps Woman for Looking at the Sky and Praying

‘Everything is Out of Order’
Jan. 29
12:55 a.m. A caller said she and her husband were fighting and he’s drunk, very irritated and armed with a rifle. She’s afraid he’s going to find her at the hotel she’s at.
12:52 p.m. A La Joya Street caller reported her brother attacked her and she wants him removed from the home.
12:53 p.m. A Hernandez caller said her 16-year-old son is being verbally abusive and getting in her face.
12:57 p.m. A North McCurdy Road caller reported a man was working there and he asked him to leave and come back tomorrow but the man came at him, so he defended himself.
1:54 p.m. A car rolled in Hernandez during a pursuit with New Mexico State Police.
3:27 p.m. A Rincon de Estrella caller said her son is on probation and didn’t go to his appointment, so his probation officer called to see if she’s been in contact with him. She said he’s at her mother’s house and she doesn’t want him there.
3:34 p.m. A fight between female students was reported at Escalante High School.
4:02 p.m. A caller said a man with a TV took off running near Holy Cross Church.
4:17 p.m. An Ohkay Eagle Mart caller reported men inside a lowrider at pump #4 tried to pick up their underage daughter and take her home.
4:47 p.m. A North Prince Drive caller wanted to speak with an officer about activity in the area because cars drive too fast, dogs go into her yard and “everything is out of order.”
5:16 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man in a truck who kept passing out and was driving on the wrong side of the road before pulling into the CVS parking lot.
9:48 p.m. A caller reported people were digging in the trash at Dollar General in Hernandez.
9:37 p.m. A caller said there’s a mattress in the road near Apple Valley Kitchen.
9:57 p.m. A Rodeway Inn caller reported a woman is harassing the front desk clerk.
10:22 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a woman, man and baby who have been living in a car on Avenida Cañada. They said the man and woman have been doing drugs around the baby.
10:39 p.m. A Hernandez caller said someone shot at her son’s vehicle as he left her house.
Chopping Trees
Jan. 30
7:37 a.m. A man was starting a fire behind a building at Las Lomas apartments.
7:38 a.m. A man at Century Bank was standing next to the ATM and watching people pull money from it.
9:23 a.m. A minor at Española Valley High School was in possession.
9:30 a.m. A Chimayó caller said she has a temporary restraining order on a woman who’s on her property and wrapped in a blanket.
10:33 a.m. A North Monterey Lane caller reported a man is living in his car in the caller’s yard and they want them removed.
10:34 a.m. A DNCU East caller said a non-member always goes in and makes a mess while preparing coffee. The caller asked the woman to leave and she got angry and threw a cup of coffee at the caller.
12:16 p.m. An Apple Valley Apartments caller reported she was looking at the sky and praying when a man got out of a vehicle, asked her what she was looking at, then slapped her.
1:22 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man who was dancing near the road by Valley Superette. The responding officer asked for backup because the dancer was trying to fight him.
1:33 p.m. A man was yelling and kicking a vehicle at the Santa Cruz Country Store.
1:37 p.m. An Allsups caller reported a man was yelling at their friend, then shoved the friend and threw a phone at them.
1:40 p.m. A Darren’s Place caller said her co-worker grabbed her and bruised her arms and then another time, she accelerated quickly toward the caller’s vehicle.
2:18 p.m. A caller reported her 9- or 10-year-old cousin in Chimayó called her and said her grandma was on the floor. CPR was performed but the woman died.
2:36 p.m. A woman carrying a machete was walking around Sandra’s Image Maker salon and hitting a tree. The machete-wielding woman told an officer she was cutting Chinese Elms and understood how a machete “doesn’t look good,” so she’d put it away.
2:45 p.m. A man at McDonald’s was punching the walls and tables and said he was going to kill everyone because he was refused service.
5:17 p.m. A Calle Chavez caller said he was helping his neighbor with a storage unit when they found a metal container with what appears to be a grenade inside.
6:04 p.m. An elderly woman in a Tesla went off the embankment on State Road 17. An ambulance was called due to her age and the nature of the incident.
6:56 p.m. A caller on Calle de Palomar said someone broke into their house and they shot the intruder.
8:37 p.m. A caller reported her boyfriend beat her up, hit her in the face, choked her and hurt her fingers.
9:45 p.m. A Sacred Heart Church caller said there’s a bull near the church; they’re not sure if it’s the one that frequents the area.
10:11 p.m. A Calle Josefita caller reported someone was under her car, trying to steal her catalytic converter.
10:25 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man in a vest who was jumping around and lying by the median near the Santa Claran Casino Hotel.
Cutting Coke
Jan. 31
1:01 a.m. A person was arrested at El Llano Road and North Riverside Drive for DWI.
1:22 a.m. An overdose was reported in Hernandez.
1:58 a.m. A city employee requested courtesy rounds in the Bond House area because they think someone cut wires and caused a power shortage.
3:02 a.m. A pickup truck was in a ditch between Middle San Pedro Road and Upper San Pedro Road.
5 a.m. A man near the dumpster at Allsups asked another man to call 911 because he felt that his rib was broken.
6:30 a.m. A caller reported a house fire on Old Hospital Road, where “the homeless hang out.”
8:15 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man passed out in a vehicle at the intersection near the Ohkay Casino.
11:14 a.m. A caller said her schizophrenic son left the house and is walking down the road.
11:59 a.m. A North Coronado Avenue caller reported their shed was broken into and a generator, chainsaw and tool boxes were stolen. The thief left a bag in the shed.
12:30 p.m. A snowmobile accident was reported. Only coordinates were given for location.
2:04 p.m. A caller said a man was messing with the ATM at Century Bank.
2:15 p.m. An Alcalde caller reported a drunk man is outside with a gun and he fired it.
2:42 p.m. A man was throwing rocks at cars near South McCurdy Road and Holy Cross Street.
3:12 p.m. A man was panhandling at Center Market.
4:07 p.m. A Chimayó caller reported a German Shepherd was in the ditch; they weren’t sure if it was injured.
4:14 p.m. A Chimayó Rocks caller said a man in a car appears to be cutting coke or other drugs.
5:11 p.m. A Chimayó caller reported breathing problems and a fast heart rate after smoking a pre-roll and taking a couple of hits from two different vapes.
5:19 p.m. A caller from a juvenile detention center in Forth Worth, Texas said a teen was taken in and he was sexually abused in Española when he was 5- or 6-yearsold.
5:20 p.m. An AutoZone employee reported a man and woman went into the store and began yelling at and threatening him.
5:24 p.m. A Walmart employee said she’s getting messages saying people are going to go to her work and jump her when she gets off.
8:09 p.m. A man was trying to cut power lines near Windstream on Paseo de Oñate.
9:12 p.m. A woman’s death was reported in Medanales.
9:26 p.m. A woman at the Inn at the Delta was screaming for help and saying she’s going to die.
11:44 p.m. A Chimayó caller saw a car run into his gas meter and flee.
Teen Tantrum
Feb. 1
7:01 a.m. A caller at Allsups said her 16-year-old sister is throwing a fit and throwing stuff out of the car.
7:35 a.m. A Calle Valdez caller reported her sister stole her wallet.
8:07 a.m. An officer stopped a jaywalker near JoAnn’s restaurant.
8:55 a.m. A woman was lighting a fire near a propane tank in Lyden. The caller also said she’s selling drugs.
9:36 a.m. An officer stopped a jaywalker near Dairy Queen.
10:22 a.m. A Goodwill caller said a man is high and lying on the ground in front of the business, hitting himself.
11:57 a.m. A Domino’s Pizza caller reported a man was refusing to leave and threatening them.
12:36 p.m. A Dollar General in Alcalde caller said people are doing drugs on the side of the building and they want them dispersed.
1:25 p.m. A Starlighter Loop caller reported they could not wake a woman. The Office of the Medical Investigator was called.
2:33 p.m. A caller said her neighbor on North Prince Drive told them squatters are on her property.
2:41 p.m. A Dairy Queen caller reported a man is in the restroom and won’t leave. Before he went to the restroom, he was dancing in the lobby and refusing to leave.
2:54 p.m. An Española Valley Church of Christ caller said two men are smoking crack; they’ve been asked to leave but refuse.
3:03 p.m. A Lyden caller reported he threw out some ashes and thought they were out but now everything is on fire.
4:02 p.m. A woman at El Rey Liquor said she was mauled by two Pitbulls and the owner didn’t do anything and drove off.
4:19 p.m. A Hernandez caller reported seeing a woman get thrown out of a car.
5:32 p.m. A North Prince Drive caller said someone was shooting a high-powered rifle and one of the bullets went through her window.
7:59 p.m. A Walmart caller reported a man in a trench coat threatened an employee.
Jaywalking
Feb. 2
6:23 a.m. An Española Hospital caller said a medicated patient left and she’s standing in front of cars as they try to drive into the emergency room parking lot.
7:30 a.m. A Santo Niño Lane caller reported a man in a car has his head on the steering wheel and he appears to have wrecked into a gate.
8:39 a.m. A Camino Cielo Grande caller said her son is threatening and harassing her grandson and is threatening to hit him.
8:41 a.m. A Northern New Mexico College caller reported the facility office was broken into last night.
10:11 a.m. A Velarde caller requested a welfare check on a woman who looks like she’s out of it.
10:16 a.m. An officer stopped a jaywalker near Circle C.
12:23 p.m. A parent said a teacher at Española Valley High School assaulted his son by putting his hands on the boy.
12:33 p.m. An officer stopped two women who were jaywalking near Kentucky Fried Chicken.
12:45 p.m. An Alcalde caller said two workers she hired are being harassed by the neighbors.
1 p.m. An officer stopped a jaywalker near the Santa Claran Casino Hotel.
2:46 p.m. A Northern New Mexico College caller reported his trailer was broken into and his tools were stolen.
3:24 p.m. An Arizona woman called EPD and said when she lived in Española, a man was verbally and sexually abusing her and breaking into her storage units.
3:25 p.m. A woman went to EPD to file a report because her son was damaging her vehicle.
4:08 p.m. A caller said she was attacked by two women at Walmart.
4:10 p.m. A 420 Emporia caller reported a man was waving a weapon around.
4:15 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a person lying in the driveway near Rue 21.
4:29 p.m. A caller said he picked up his car from a towing company and the back bumper and exhaust were ripped off of it.
4:38 p.m. A Calle Redonda caller claimed he was going to get a machete and kill all the drug dealers and users because he’s tired of it and doesn’t care if he goes to jail.
4:53 p.m. A caller said her credit card was stolen at Lotaburger a few days ago and she wants to speak to an officer because it was used at Speedway.
5:18 p.m. A caller reported seeing her cousin stealing a lawnmower from her house. She said he has a house next door and she caught the theft on camera. The reporting deputy said the lawnmower was never stolen.
6:12 p.m. An overdose was reported in Chamita.
6:53 p.m. A vehicle went off the road and into a guardrail in Truchas.
7:53 p.m. A Center Market caller said a woman was acting up and refusing to leave.
9:09 p.m. An El Paragua caller reported a man is by the dumpster and they’re not sure what he’s doing.
Parking Lot Fight
Feb. 3
9:49 a.m. An MG Self Storage caller said homeless people are living in a cardboard box and they’re going into their yard and damaging property.
9:53 a.m. A North Riverside Drive caller reported being punched in the ear.
9:59 a.m. A Dollar General in Española caller wanted people trespassed because they were throwing trash out of the dumpsters.
12:02 a.m. A Medanales caller wanted to file a report for kidnapping and battery that happened on Saturday.
11:53 a.m. An officer stopped a jaywalker near 420 Emporia.
12:15 p.m. A man’s death was reported in Chamita.
12:43 p.m. A Little Caesar’s caller said two men were fighting in the parking lot.
12:46 p.m. A Villa del Norte Apartments caller reported the neighbor is harassing her and photographing her.
1:01 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man in a wheelchair by Walgreens.
1:50 p.m. A Work Force Solutions caller reported a city garbage truck hit a pole and damaged it.
2:03 p.m. A caller said a woman was on her way to meet a drug dealer at the Chacoma Mobile Home Park.
4:05 p.m. A caller reported a man was lying in the road in Chama, trying to get cars to pull over.
5:07 p.m. A Lady Hawk Lane caller said she was just verbally assaulted by her neighbor.
5:34 p.m. A Chimayó caller reported a man on a bicycle was breaking a window and trying to get into a house.
8:33 p.m. An Inn at the Delta caller said a few homeless people want to rent a room but they aren’t going to rent one to them.
8:46 p.m. A Coyote caller reported a man is across from the church is shooting at them.
10:26 p.m. A caller said her boyfriend destroyed her room and she has a restraining order against him.
Return of the Cow
Feb. 4
12:14 p.m. A caller reported a brown cow was by the college.
8:12 a.m. A Northern New Mexico College caller said his trailer was broken into and his tools were taken.
9:44 a.m. A man went to EPD to file a report for stolen identity that occurred in 2009.
11:39 a.m. A woman went to EPD to file a report because someone in Colorado is using her information to receive government benefits.
1:04 p.m. An overdose was reported at Treasures of Enchantment. Two doses of Narcan were administered.
2:07 p.m. A woman went to EPD because she received a letter about an account being opened in her name.
3:25 p.m. An officer stopped a jaywalker near Domino’s.
3:52 p.m. An Española Hospital caller said a patient left the emergency room.
4:04 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a couple because the man was covering the woman’s mouth and wiping tears from her face when they were ordering pizza.
5:15 p.m. A Roadrunner Drive caller found drug paraphernalia in his yard and wants to speak with an officer.
7:14 p.m. A Walmart caller said a group of men in a truck were brandishing weapons.
10:56 p.m. An El Guique caller reported a man beat up his girlfriend.
