Employee Shows Buns at McDonald’s
The police blotter is published to give readers an abridged look at criminal activity in their community and neighborhood. It is simply an illustration of what local law enforcement, funded by taxpayers, must deal with daily throughout the Española Valley.

Coronado Prowler
March 5
1:22 a.m. A vehicle was stolen from Calle Hacienda and North Riverside Drive. It was recovered.
7:07 a.m. The ignition was taken out of a vehicle in the Santa Claran Casino Hotel parking lot.
8:42 a.m. A Po Pay Avenue caller asked for help to get her cat out of a tree.
9:13 a.m. A Lyden caller wanted to file a report for damage to a power box for solar panels.
9:15 a.m. A Mountain View Street caller reported the neighbor’s dogs have been barking since 7 a.m. and he works from home and this is an ongoing issue that’s been reported before.
10:27 a.m. A man’s death was reported in Velarde.
10:56 a.m. A prowler was reported at Coronado High School. The caller said the man was on the property before and stole a bicycle.
11:14 a.m. A woman went to the Española Police Department to report ID theft because she got a summons in the mail for jaywalking.
3:17 p.m. A vehicle rollover was reported on Po Pay Avenue and N.M. Highway 68.
4:54 p.m. A man’s death was reported on East Don Filigonio.
5:17 p.m. A Bobcat Lane caller wanted to report an attempted break-in.
5:54 p.m. A caller said she was parked at Walmart and someone stole her car’s badge.
No Crime in Yelling
March 6
7:27 a.m. Police executed a search warrant at North McCurdy Road and Calle Gallegos.
8:41 am. A caller said she was driving around a mountain and her vehicle went off the road on the Colorado side.
9:43 a.m. A caller reported her daughter is being bullied at school and she wants to speak with an officer.
1:12 p.m. A Chimayó caller said the neighbors across the street are building a shed and the man is walking around his yard yelling and cussing.
2:12 p.m. A caller reported her cousin has homeless people on her property and they took a washer and dryer from her shed.
2:16 p.m. A breaking and entering was reported at the Ghost Ranch Welcome Center.
3:29 p.m. A caller said two cars were traveling through Santa Clara and swerving all over the road and the drivers were throwing cans and beer bottles at each other.
3:58 p.m. An overdose was reported in Chamita.
4:58 p.m. A caller said a driver was road raging with them coming from Pojoaque. The person was cussing the caller out and brake-checking them.
8:19 p.m. A Taco Bell caller reported a man has been in the restroom for 20 minutes and won’t come out. The caller said there’s also foil in the restroom.
8:29 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a student who didn’t go to school but posted a video of himself on Facebook, vaping, holding a black pistol and laughing.
10:16 p.m. An overdose was reported at the Blue Bus stop near Starbucks. One dose of Narcan was administered.
Cleaning and Cursing
March 7
2:11 a.m. A caller said people in a car on Calle Eduardo were waving guns around.
7:30 a.m. A caller reported she was walking on Upper San Pedro Road when a naked man in a car pulled up and asked if she wanted to get in the car.
9:34 a.m. A South McCurdy Road caller said two men tried to steal something off his property.
10 a.m. A Vallecitos caller reported a burglary that happened yesterday.
10:03 a.m. A Camino del Sol caller said a man has been cleaning and cursing since 8 a.m.
10:36 a.m. A Dixon caller reported her son was in her house, breaking items. She said he claimed to have taken a whole bottle of methadone.
11:53 a.m. A caller said a woman in a truck is slumped over the wheel at Lowe’s Home Improvement.
12:55 p.m. A Holy Cross School caller was cleaning the property and found unused bullets.
2:12 p.m. A caller said he left his wallet at Starbucks about 45 minutes ago and when he went back, it was gone.
3:42 p.m. A Children, Youth and Families Department caller requested help in taking custody of a three-day-old child.
3:57 p.m. A North McCurdy Road caller wanted to file a report because his fence was damaged.
7:47 p.m. A Walmart caller said a woman threatened an employee.
8:11 p.m. A Fairview Sonic employee wanted to file a report because an irate customer threw a drink at them in the drive-thru.
He Just Wants to Eat
March 8
10:37 a.m. An officer was out with several people who were trespassing at Kentucky Fried Chicken.
11:47 a.m. A male employee at the Ohkay Casino was in the restroom, in a stall, and not responding to security. CPR was performed but the man died.
11:54 a.m. A caller said they went to Hacienda Home Center, but no one was there even though the sign said open and the door was unlocked. When they tried to leave, the door locked and they couldn’t get out.
1:23 p.m. A Dixon caller reported her vehicle died and is starting on fire.
1:52 p.m. A man’s death was reported in Chimayó.
5:39 p.m. A man said he was eating at China Kitchen when he had an encounter with another man who threatened him and his family and kept reaching behind his back like he was reaching for a gun.
6:42 p.m. An overdose was reported behind Walgreens.
8:49 p.m. A Calle Don Pedro caller said his child’s mother is there and is drunk and he wants her removed because she’s verbally assaulting him and is trying to fight him.
Parking Lot Fight
March 9
6:42 a.m. A Hernandez caller reported a man took a bunch of prescription pills.
11:39 a.m. A caller said someone was rummaging through a burned down house.
11:56 a.m. An Oliver’s General Store caller reported a man threatened him with a gun.
1:35 p.m. A man was delivering packages on Thursday at Calle Milagro when a dog bit him.
1:56 p.m. An officer stopped a man who was jaywalking at Valley Drive and North Riverside Drive.
2:19 p.m. A McDonald’s employee showed up drunk and they sent him home, but he was slumped over outside with his buttocks out.
3:19 p.m. A man went to EPD to file a report for fraudulent charges made on his account at Century Bank.
3:23 p.m. A man at the Española Hospital wanted to speak with a deputy because he was assaulted at a trailer court in Chamita.
5:10 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a teenage boy who lives with his grandmother in Hernandez because the woman was yelling at him to sleep outside.
5:32 p.m. A DNCU East caller reported a woman from Cañones tried to cash a fraudulent check.
5:50 p.m. A Hernandez caller said a man in Estancia threatened to kill him and now he’s worried and wants the incident noted in case he has to defend his family.
8:31 p.m. A Center Market caller reported four men were fighting near the dumpsters in the Family Dollar parking lot.
11:12 p.m. A Home Run Pizza caller said two men on foot were shooting at a man who was also on foot.
Too Late for Cupid
March 10
12:49 a.m. An Española Hospital caller reported a woman who had been discharged was refusing to leave.
10:03 a.m. A Goodwill caller found four SKS live rounds at the bottom of a donation box.
10:38 a.m. A County Road 24 caller said he was cleaning his property when the neighbor began shooting arrows in his direction and one almost hit him.
11:25 a.m. A Walmart caller reported she was parked in a handicap spot and another vehicle was taking a long time to back out and the driver accused her of hitting them, but there was no damage to the vehicle.
11:43 a.m. A Ranchitos Park caller said a woman in a bra and underwear was outside of a car near the swimming pool. They weren’t sure if she was trying to take a bath or perform oral sex on a man.
1:18 p.m. An El Llano Road caller reported the neighbor on the other street blasts his music all day and it vibrates to her house.
2 p.m. An officer was out with a jaywalker on Fairview Lane and North Riverside Drive.
2:16 p.m. A Coral Lane caller reported her 10-month-old granddaughter found a pill in her playpen and may have licked it because she’s acting sleepy.
3:02 p.m. A Little Caesar’s caller said a man went in to pay for a pizza and he smelled like alcohol.
4:43 p.m. A Fairview Sonic caller reported someone in a car was smoking out of a glass pipe.
4:59 p.m. A caller said a man was carrying a cardboard sign and threatening to kill everyone in the JoJi’s area.
5:20 p.m. A Camino Escondido caller reported a vehicle nearly hit her vehicle in a road rage-type manner.
5:27 p.m. A Hernandez caller said a man is threatening to kill him.
5:52 p.m. A caller reported a person is selling puppies at Walmart. They said a woman told them to call because it’s illegal and she thinks what they’re doing is disgusting.
10:09 p.m. A man took a bunch of pills and was suicidal.
10:39 p.m. A Velarde caller said her cousin is pretending to sleep on her mom’s porch after being told several times to leave.
Temper Tantrum
March 11
8:57 a.m. A man’s death was reported in Lyden.
12:37 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on his wife because she was moving the cat bowls around and wouldn’t let him put the cat food away.
2:20 p.m. A Villa del Norte Apartments caller said her truck was stolen last night.
2:44 p.m. An Alcalde caller reported there’s five dogs with pack mentality and she’s afraid to work in her yard.
2:55 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on three children because there’s been fentanyl exposure and it’s not safe at home.
3:16 p.m. A La Joya Street caller said someone stole two packages from his house.
4:43 p.m. A Calle Don Leandro caller reported her son pulled a knife on her and she’s locked in the bedroom but he’s trying to open the door and saying he’s going to kill her. He pulled the knife because she wouldn’t give him a ride this morning.
5:08 p.m. An East Pueblo Street caller said her 6-year-old daughter is having a tantrum and scratching herself and others.
5:28 p.m. A Bluff Road caller reported a car is trying to run over a woman.
5:35 p.m. A Wendy’s caller said a person who went through the drive-thru was threatening employees.
5:41 p.m. Three people in a car at the Santa Claran Casino Hotel were in possession of drugs.
5:55 p.m. Command 1 said multiple people were trying to break into cars at Goodwill.
10:50 p.m. A Calle Sandoval caller reported his girlfriend is speeding around his yard, knocking on windows and banging on the door. She may have also keyed his truck.
