Española Valley’s multi-sport senior athlete Averi Shultz etched her name in the Sundevils track and field record book on Saturday.

Shultz, who also plays basketball, showed she’s already in mid-season form on the track, flying 16-feet, 1½-inches to take third at the Artesia Invitational. That was also good enough for an Española record, the last of which was set in 1987.
