The Española Public Library will host a spring paint class from 4-5:30 p.m. Thursday (4/23). Participants will be guided step-by-step to create a spring-themed painting — no experience needed. Seating is limited, so sign up in advance at the library. The event is recommended for teens and adults. “The Mystery of Chaco Canyon” will be shown at 4 p.m. Friday (4/24) for movie afternoon. Short Films Day will feature 3D short films and will run every 20 minutes from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 27. Bring your extra plants, seeds or cuttings and swap with fellow planters from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. April 29 during the Plant Swap and Tewa 1 Gallon Gardener activity. Abiquiú Library Events

Join the Abiquiú Library & Cultural Center for three events. View the film, “Library Stories: Books on the Backroads” with Ben Daitz and the N.M. Rural Library Initiative at 6 p.m. Thursday (4/23) in the Parish Hall across from the library in Abiquiú. A Book Sale, Seed Exchange and Crafternoon (arts and crafts) will from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday (4/25), with Crafternoon 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Join author Garrett Peck as he discusses his book, “The Bright Edges of the World: Willa Cather and her Archbishop” at 3 p.m. Sunday (4/26) in the Parish Hall. Chile Cook-Off

The Española Chile Bowl Cook-Off Returns April 25 and local businesses, nonprofits and organizations are invited to enter for $50. Individuals may enter for $25 at https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/chile-cookoff. The event will also feature a silent auction table and Suzan Roybal, founder of the Chile Bowl Cook-Off, will be a celebrity judge. Taster tickets can be purchased for $8 on Zeffy or $10 at the door.
