A brush fire burning in Española is forcing evacuations from the Santa Claran Casino to the Fairview Bridge. Española Fire Chief John Wickersham said 100 acres have burned already and multiple structures have been lost. Those who must evacuate and need shelter can go to the La Mesilla/San Pedro Community Center, 30 CR 8, Española. Residents are advised to evacuate immediately. The 400-1100 block area of North Riverside Drive is affected and Riverside Drive from the Santa Claran Hotel Casino to La Joya Street currently has limited access. People are asked to avoid the area and allow emergency crews to respond effectively. Follow all instructions from law enforcement and emergency personnel.
