Elderly Women Fight Over Bingo Money
The police blotter is published to give readers an abridged look at criminal activity in their community and neighborhood. It is simply an illustration of what local law enforcement, funded by taxpayers, must deal with daily throughout the Española Valley.

Rolling on the Ground
April 9
12:10 a.m. An irate man was throwing things at a security guard at Goodwill.
2:15 a.m. A Santa Fe County dispatcher reported a vehicle was being broken into at the Villa del Norte Apartments.
6:59 a.m. A park ranger requested medics for a vehicle rollover on U.S. Highway 64.
8:44 a.m. An Alcalde caller said it’s day three of a dog being tangled in a chain and the doghouse being tipped over. She wants a call from animal control.
9:21 a.m. A caller reported her son left and she’s concerned he’s going to do drugs because he comes home “a mess.”
9:40 a.m. A caller said there’s a vehicle down the embankment near the rest area in Abiquiú.
9:48 a.m. A caller reported two women were fighting in the street on Fairview Lane. A second caller reported the “crackheads” are jumping in.
11:58 a.m. A Brown Street caller said her nephew is beating her up. The responding officer said the caller was actually the aggressor.
11:58 a.m. A caller reported a vehicle is parked sideways at AT&T and a woman is passed out inside with a black bag over her head.
12:05 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a woman and her baby because the woman is a domestic violence victim.
12:47 p.m. An Angel Duran Drive caller reported damage to their lift station and poles.
1:55 p.m. A Holy Cross Church caller said there’s a man in front of the rectory door and he’s doing drugs.
2:01 p.m. A Fairview Sonic caller reported an irate man was doing drugs and rolling on the ground.
5:10 p.m. An overdose was reported on Calle Duran after a man took fentanyl. Four doses of Narcan were administered.
6:37 p.m. A Burger King caller said a man and a woman were fighting in the lobby.
7 p.m. An overdose was reported in Chamita.
7:16 p.m. A 420 Emporia caller reported a man passed a counterfeit bill.
7:39 p.m. A caller said a man and woman in an SUV were tagging the building near the baseball field.
Rude Response
April 10
12:45 a.m. A Medanales caller reported her ex, against whom she has a restraining order, was chased off her property. She wants to file a report and said RASO isn’t doing their jobs because her ex has two warrants and nothing is getting done.
10:02 a.m. A Lindrith caller said his ex-wife’s boyfriend ran him off the road a month ago.
10:22 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man on South McCurdy Road and Fairview Lane because he’s in the middle of the road, jumping in front of vehicles and trying to punch windows.
10:22 a.m. A Middle San Pedro Road caller reported their brother is not “mentally there” and is scaring them and another child.
10:30 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man blocking traffic on North McCurdy Road and Birch Lane and throwing gang signs.
10:51 a.m. A Western Winds Motel caller said someone broke into his shop.
12:55 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man lying across from the Ohkay Eagle Mart and waving his hands. The responding officer said everything is OK, the man was just stretching on a piece of wood.
5:38 p.m. A caller said there’s going to be a deadly accident because of so much traffic near the new coffee shop. The caller was told to stay home if she’s afraid of traffic that exists on a daily basis or go to a city council meeting if she’s truly concerned because officers don’t sit and direct traffic due to rush hour.
8:12 p.m. An overdose was reported in Alcalde. Narcan was administered.
10:05 p.m. An overdose was reported on Calle del Sol. The Office of the Medical Investigator was called.
Naked by the Dumpster
April 11
6:29 a.m. A Walmart caller said a man was smoking in the restroom and is now outside, looking into cars.
8:52 a.m. A Hernandez caller reported a woman threatened him and said he was on private property. He said he did not see a sign saying it was private property and had just taken his car to be cleaned at as nearby house.
12:58 p.m. A Taco Bell caller said a homeless man is bothering customers and refusing to leave the area.
1:38 p.m. A Calle Redonda caller, who was calling for his aunt, reported the woman’s son is trying to get into her yard has been calling and harassing her.
1:48 p.m. An overdose was reported on Keith Street.
6:24 p.m. An Española Hospital caller reported a 17-year-old was stabbed.
7:51 p.m. An overdose was reported on County Road 155 and County Road 158.
10:43 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a naked woman lying by the dumpster near the New Mexico Treatment Center.
11:08 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man lying near a truck parked by the Dreamcatcher Cinema because they weren’t sure if he’d been hit by a vehicle.
11:48 p.m. A caller heard gunshots near the La Mesilla Fire Station.
Talking Dirty
April 12
12:21 a.m. A fentanyl overdose was reported on Brown Street.
8:12 a.m. An officer stopped to speak with a man who was exposed at Speedway. The man said his pants fell down because his belt was missing.
11:08 a.m. A man at the Days Inn was refusing to check out.
12:04 p.m. A Hernandez caller said he’s paralyzed and his mom’s boyfriend slapped him in the face after an argument.
4:53 p.m. An Alcalde caller reported three or four guys are drunk in the neighbor’s yard and have been verbally harassing her and her family.
5:48 p.m. An East Roman Drive caller said she’s receiving harassing phone calls on her deceased brother’s phone and they are telling her dirty things she won’t repeat.
8:53 p.m. A Calle Don Pedro caller reported her baby daddy hit her in the face and she’s bleeding.
10:52 p.m. A caller said 10 men were shooting in the area.

April 13
1:56 a.m. A Calle del Rancho caller reported three drunk underage girls were knocking on the door, looking for her granddaughter, but she’s not there.
6:16 a.m. A State Road 76 caller said people were fighting outside of a house.
7:49 a.m. A caller reported a man on the sidewalk between the Goodwill and Pizza Hut was taking his clothes off.
9:03 a.m. A Paseo Melendez caller said her nephew stole Cokes off her porch.
9:06 a.m. A Meca Therapies caller reported finding the door shattered when they came into work.
9:26 a.m. A County Road 101 caller said the neighbors painted a street sign.
10:48 a.m. A South Riverside Drive caller wanted two homeless people who were passed out on his porch to be dispersed.
12:17 p.m. A Zia Credit Union caller wanted a woman wearing a bra and no shirt to be dispersed because they asked her multiple times to leave, but she refused.
12:28 p.m. A woman flagged down a deputy in Alcalde and said her brother-in-law was harassing her and her daughter.
1:46 p.m. A Calle Valdez caller said she has a restraining order on her daughter and the woman just went to the front of her house with a drill.
2:19 p.m. An Española Hospital caller reported a woman ran out with an IV in her arm.
3:03 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on an elderly woman walking in the middle of the road by the skate park.
3:55 p.m. A driver flagged down an officer on El Llano Road and North McCurdy Road and said something flew off a vehicle in front of them and hit their windshield.
4:34 p.m. A Calle Redonda caller said a woman in his house stole the SIM card out of his phone.
5 p.m. A Family Dollar in Chimayó caller reported a man told employees that someone tried to abduct him and he jumped out of the vehicle.
5:08 p.m. A woman went to RASO to report she’s being harassed on the phone and the person is threatening to harm her husband.
5:11 p.m. A caller said a man in a Subaru was hitting his female passenger and almost rear-ended them as they pulled into Center Market.
6:50 p.m. A Starbucks caller reported the lobby was full of blood because of a man who was in there with an injured left arm.
7:25 p.m. An East Winesap Drive caller said a little girl across the street has been screaming “dad help me” and crying for more than an hour. The responding officer said everything was OK, the child stepped in stickers and couldn’t walk.
8:19 p.m. A caller reported people were fighting on Fry Street and Old Hospital Road then fled in a car after hitting his son’s car.
10:34 p.m. An officer was waved down at Taco Bell and told a woman was lying on the ground.
Zombie Drivers
April 14
3 a.m. A Motel 6 caller said a woman wearing a blanket was trying to steal a 1970s car in the parking lot.
5:32 a.m. A New Mexico State Police officer requested a search and rescue team for someone stuck in the mud in Jicarilla. The officer was told the team would not be activated because it’s only for life and death circumstances and they need to pay for a wrecker.
11:18 a.m. A caller reported his cousins have been threatening him for the past three days and they’ve been going to his house at night and standing outside his window.
11:34 a.m. A West Calle Jose Pablo caller said people are selling drugs out of their window and a car showed up in which the occupants looked like zombies.
12:26 p.m. A PMS caller reported a woman wearing a robe, hospital shirt and goggles was trying to open the doors and saying she has keys to the caller’s vehicle.
1:15 p.m. A Chimayó caller said she didn’t mean to call 911, she meant to call Eye Associates.
1:41 p.m. A caller reported a man and woman are having an altercation and the woman is lying in the road on N.M. 68 and N.M. Highway 74.
2:06 p.m. A caller said a woman who looked like she needed help went to the New Moon Lodge. The woman’s clothes were dirty and she looked like she had fallen and had a bruised face.
2:15 p.m. A County Road 87 caller reported a person in a truck dumped a couch and mattress.
2:18 p.m. A caller said a city tractor caused a rock to hit their vehicle near DNCU West.
6:33 p.m. A Hernandez caller requested help to find a missing 2 1/2-year-old child.
7:37 p.m. A caller reported being approached by a man asking for money. When the caller said no, a woman got out of the car and was being irate. The couple followed the caller around town and she wants to speak with an officer.
8:13 p.m. An overdose was reported in Chimayó. Narcan was administered.
8:58 p.m. A Las Lomas Apartments caller said a man was stealing items from her porch and her boyfriend is in “full blows” with him.
9:12 p.m. An Abiquiú caller reported being lost in Plaza Blanca and stuck in a canyon.
Stolen Kicks
April 15
1:33 a.m. An Española Hospital caller wanted to speak with an officer because he was being released but didn’t feel well.
5:21 a.m. A Hernandez caller said a man was yelling and acting like someone was trying to hurt him.
7:40 a.m. A North Coronado caller wanted to file a report because a package containing a pair of $200 shoes was stolen.
8:35 a.m. A Hernandez caller said a daughter in her 60s and the woman’s mother who’s in her 80s, are outside, yelling. The responding officer said the women were fighting over bingo money.
9:39 a.m. A caller reported leaving her wallet in her friend’s car on Good Friday and discovered the friend made a couple of charges on her credit card and has since blocked her.
2:26 p.m. An Elkhorn Lodge caller wanted to file a report because their tires were slashed.
2:29 p.m. A sixth-grader at McCurdy Charter School was assaulted.
3:36 p.m. A woman was trying to cash a stolen check at Century Bank.
3:55 p.m. A caller reported people in an SUV had a piece of plywood on the roof of the vehicle and were holding onto it.
5:49 p.m. A Milagro Village Mobile Home Park caller said the landlord went to their house and was drunk and trying to open the door.
7:18 p.m. A man went to the Española Police Department to file a report because he’s having issues with his girlfriend’s ex-husband. The man said the ex pulled a gun on him and has been sending threatening messages saying he doesn’t want to see him around.
8:50 p.m. An Ohkay Express Mart caller said someone made her overdose and she needs an ambulance.
9:19 p.m. An Española Hospital caller reported a woman ingested drugs and is fighting with the ER staff.
9:50 p.m. A Chimayó caller said a man walking by the Chimayó sign fired gunshots.
