Pets of the Week 4/23/26

Fresh out of foster and chirping his way directly into your heart, Cricket has hopped into Española Humane’s Puppy Patch at Ojo Santa Fe like he owns the place (and honestly, he might). Once a days-old bottle baby, he was raised around the clock by one of the big-hearted Española Humane Animal Clinic vet assistants — so yes, he’s been finely tuned from the very beginning.
Now he’s all shimmer and shine, with exotic good looks, soulful eyes and a rear-to-ear waggle. Apply on the website to schedule your serenade with Cricket at the resort in Santa Fe!
With his delightfully lopsided facial markings, Romeo looks like he’s permanently wearing a skeptical grimace — which tracks, because he’s not exactly the swoony, sonnet-writing type. Not very romantic for a Romeo, but deeply committed to snacks, routine and minding his business.
Built for comfort, not chaos, Romeo is a plush, lounge-forward gentleman who enjoys affection on his terms and a reliable daily schedule: breakfast, patrol the outdoors, return home to voice opinions, dinner, then settle in like a slightly judgmental throw pillow.
He prefers to be the only cat (king behavior), can co-exist with calm dogs and would like to formally decline all belly rubs. If you’re into a confident, grumbly companion with a signature look and zero interest in poetry — Romeo is ready to come home (for real this time). The Española Animal Shelter is open to walk-in adopters from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
